The client for this project initially approached us in 2017 for the demolition of an existing two storey extension to be replaced with a single story extension with raised patio.This project was granted planning permission, however, the client approached us again in 2019 to explore cost effective alternatives. 

The project involved lots of technical design and cost exploratory options to satisfy the clients brief. The client was also open to the use of the new materials to create a contemporary look within a traditional style. 

To consider scale and massing of this project I modelled the existing dwelling in sketchup, then through thorough client meetings we came up with alternative solutions that addressed areas of the brief. Massing the model also allowed the client to visualise the dwelling better, something they struggled with in 2D
